What is work?

As a driver of credit or a debt collector debt, which would be responsible to collect money without paying firms or individuals. You could work for a collection agency or purchasing third of the corporate debt used to collect the debts of companies (known under the trade name of the collection) or individuals (consumer collection). Alternatively, you can be a credit controller in a finance company or credit service, pursuing arrears to suppliers and customers.

What qualifications and experience employers are looking for?

Employers are expected to have a good standard of general education and confidence in mathematics. You will find it useful to have computer skills and experience services to businesses and employers work.Some customers may prefer to have GCSEs (AC) including mathematics, and you can have an advantage in qualifying accounts or accounts (see related profiles for details.) You should check with individual employers on skills and experience needed for each job.

What training and development can I do?

You get the most out of their job training. Their training can cover your techniques, credit law, court orders and bankruptcy procedures.Your training may include taking the credit Services Association (CSA) or the Institute of Credit Management (ICM). If you want to progress to the credit manager of CSA have skills or MCI can improve their promotion prospects.

Qualifications include:

CSA / City & Guilds Diploma for the debt recovery industry
ICM Level 3 Diploma in Credit Management – an introductory course
ICM Level 5 Diploma in Credit Management – a more advanced procedures including judicial and Insolvency
ICM Foundation Degree in Credit Management.

You must keep your skills and knowledge of credit law to date throughout their careers. The ICM and CSA offers both a variety of courses and workshops to help their professional development.

It may be possible to become a manager credit with experience in a related field, as banking. A growing number of employers require applicants to have professional qualifications Institute of Credit Management (ICM) and experience.

There are two degrees offered by the CIM:

Management Certificate credit – no formal entry requirements for registration as a student with ICM

and study of this degree. The course focuses on the management of credit, accounting, business law and business environment. Associate Members of the ICM is given to this term.

Diploma in Credit Management – the prerequisite for entry to this qualification is the Certificate of Credit Management. It covers the management of credit advanced workshops on credit management, the credit management law, litigation and insolvency. At the end of this course successfully, integration is given to the ICM and the appointment Michmash (Grad) may be used. These qualifications can be studied at university Part-time or distance, and usually two to three years each. ICM may grant exemptions from parts of these courses for holders of laissez-passer Review or greater level qualification in relevant fields.

In addition, members of the MCI is possible thanks to a path career for people with a minimum five years experience in credit management. These provide references and experience assessed by ICM.

Graduate or members of professional training experience of at least seven years of senior management can ask grants from the ICM.

Credit managers must keep abreast of the existing financial legislation and procedures, and can be required to take courses to update professional skills. managers of export credit should be aware of international standards and legislation.

New Credit controllers can earn over £ 16,000.
Credit controllers with experience can earn between £ 16,000 and £ 25,000. A team leader can earn credit control approximately £ 27,000
